Captain Elizabeth LaRue

Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division

Captain LaRue, an engineering officer, has spent a long time at the 1st Cavalry Division as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General (MG John Richardson IV). Soon though, she’ll be leaving the First Team for a billet with the Corps of Engineers. She was commissioned into the army from the University of Virginia.

While interning at the 1st Cavalry Division, I sit behind her in a cluster of desks in an off-section of the headquarters. She’s an excellent leader, every day going over qualities of good leadership, encouraging her subordinates to strive for achievement, and urging her fellow junior officers to treat their soldier's with common decency and respect. In my opinion, she’s one of the good ones. She often gave me rides on and off base, discussing her background and her likes and dislikes of army life. She was honest and always made me feel at home.

She’s also incredibly funny, always smiling and eager to make light when she can. She adores her husband and family as well as her pets, frequently giving me updates on her cat Skitter, or as she refers to him “Skitter Scatter Catter.”

Currently, she is stationed in West Virginia working with the Corps of Engineers. Best of luck in your military career, Captain LaRue! Essayons!
