The Vietnam War
Welcome Home, Troopers

Harkening back to the days of spurs and saddle, the 1st Cavalry Division once again took to mounts to face their enemy. Stallions became helicopters and six-shooters morphed into M-16s. Reflagged as the 1st Cavalry Division (Air Mobile), the 'Air Cavalry' arrived in Vietnam in 1965, relieving the Siege of Plei Mi before engaging the enemy in the La Drang Valley and the Tet Offensive. The bulk of the division departed Vietnam in 1971, with the final cavalrymen returning to the United States in 1972.

This section is dedicated to my grandfather, Staff Sergeant Robert "Bob" Duvall. Welcome home, troopers.
